On November 7, 2015, We Serve held its second annual Veterans Day Concert at the Washington D.C. LDS Temple Visitors' Center. The program was written by our own Celia Straus, and featured music and spoken word presented by the Washington D.C. Temple Orchestra, the Mormon Choir of Washington D.C., Special Guest Speaker U.S. Army Major General (Ret) and President of the Washington D.C. North Mission Peter Stryker Cooke, and closing remarks and benediction by We Serve's Monsignor James D. Watkins.
We were privileged to have a dramatic reading of war letters by the Pickwick Players -- special thanks to our performers Michelle Detweiler, Milan Detweiler, Alison Lewis, and David Sturdevant. The letters were provided courtesy of Andrew Carroll, Director of the Center for American War Letters at Chapman University (www.warletters.us).
Below are some photos of our 2015 We Serve Award recipients Elder and Sister Fowler on behalf of the Washington D.C. Temple Visitors' Center, with our Keynote Speaker President Cooke, and We Serve Board Members Monsignor James D. Watkins and John D. Kristoff. Also, some video from the evening's musical selections.
